Tyreek Hill incident should be ‘shown to every Black boy on how not to act when being pulled over’: NBA player

Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac spoke out Tuesday about the detention of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill after body camera footage of the incident was released.

Isaac wrote to X that Hill's stop “should teach all young black boys how not to behave when pulled over.”

“As a black man, it's immature to put your life in the hands of a police officer like this! Especially someone of his calibre,” Isaac wrote. “You have no obligation to be nice to either party, but 9.99 times out of 10, if you ask the police, they will reciprocate, especially if you are stopped for a legitimate reason… that's fair… there are of course unwarranted exceptions and escalations.”

“It wasn't the best moment for either team. In my opinion, it doesn't carry any merit.”

Hill was pulled over before the Dolphins played the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and body camera footage showed the tense moments after he was stopped, removed from his car, handcuffed to the ground, and then walked away with two traffic tickets.

The star wide receiver and his representatives called for the firing of the officers, who were placed on administrative duties following the incident.

“We are calling for the immediate termination of the officers who have been placed on administrative leave,” Hill said in a statement through her lawyer, Julius Collins, via Reuters. “All actions taken by law enforcement officers are in accordance with standard operating procedure.”

“We believe the officers' use of force was excessive, escalating and reckless. We demand that the officers be fired immediately.”
