RFK Jr. suggests independent support for Trump will drop in wake of debate

Former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suggested former President Trump's performance in Wednesday's debate could affect independent support. Fox News interviewThis suggests that next week's polls could show a “declining approval rating” among key voter groups.

“It's unfortunate that Trump got distracted,” Kennedy said. “I think he made the perfect case for being president, but he failed to explain it to the American people.”

Trump claimed to have won He said that VP Harris beat Trump during Tuesday's debate and suggested that polls afterward reflected that. A CNN flash poll conducted after the debate found that a majority of viewers, 63 percent, believed VP Harris beat Trump.

But Kennedy questioned the accuracy of those polls.

“A lot of it probably has statistical issues,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy said he still supports the former president, despite his thoughts on Trump's performance.

“I've been listening, and based on what I've heard, President Trump is going to win,” Kennedy said.

During the interview, Kennedy praised Harris, saying she won “for the strength of her voice.”

“Vice President Harris clearly won the debate in terms of her delivery, her organization and her preparation,” Kennedy said in an interview.

He said he had not completely abandoned his loyalty to Trump, and that the former president was “winning in governing.”

“But he didn't say that,” Kennedy added. “In fact, the first question was a huge missed opportunity.”

Mr Kennedy argued that Mr Trump could have gone more in-depth in his response to the first question – whether Americans were better off now than they were four years ago – citing rising tensions in the Middle East and poverty rates.

“All of this is down to a lack of leadership from the Biden-Harris team, and that's what he should have made his point,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy endorsed Trump after suspending his campaign and effectively dropping out of the race, and said last week that he planned to hold rallies with Trump in battleground states.
