Gary Cohen delivers electric call for clutch Francisco Lindor homer: ‘Linsanity!’

Mets announcer Gary Cohen couldn't contain his excitement after Francisco Lindor hit a game-tying home run in the top of the ninth inning against the Blue Jays.

In a bit of Knicks history, Cohen praised “Linsanity” after Lindor ended Beauden Francis' no-hitter with a hard hit to right field.

“And that home run ends the no-hitter. Linsanity!” Cohen said on the broadcast. “Francisco Lindor homered in the ninth to tie the game, the biggest home run the Mets have hit this season. Francisco Lindor broke the no-hitter and shutout records and tied the game with his 31st homer of the year.”

The home run led to six runs in the ninth inning and helped the Mets overcome a 1-0 deficit to win 6-2 and take the series lead against the Blue Jays, with a crucial series against the Phillies looming this weekend.

Lindor told reporters after the game that he was “100 percent” aware the ball was out of the park.

Away from the scrum, Tyrone Taylor could be heard shouting: “Of course, he's a good bloke.”

“It's time to win baseball games and coming to Toronto, facing good pitchers and ending up with two wins is a good start to the road,” Lindor said.

Cohen's “Linsanity” comment was a reference to the Jeremy Lin craze that swept New York City during the 2011-12 season, when Knicks players suddenly rose to stardom and the Knicks went on a winning streak.
