Vice President Harris mocked former President Trump's debate performance at a rally in North Carolina on Thursday, accusing him of having a “notion of a plan.”
Harris mocked President Trump for again saying he was interested in repealing Obamacare, but added that there are no current plans to replace it.
“I have a vision for a plan. I'm not the president right now,” Trump said during Tuesday's debate.
“You heard what he said in the debate: He doesn't have a plan to replace it. He said, 'the concept of a plan,'” Harris told the rally, laughing.
“Oh, did you all watch the debate?” she added, as the crowd yelled at her.
“Concept, concept, no actual plan, concept,” Harris said. “And understand what's at stake with that: 45 million Americans have insurance through Obamacare and he's trying to end that on a concept basis.”
Ms Harris was praised by Democrats and commentators for her sharp performance in the debate, particularly in baiting Mr Trump into going off-message.
A flash CNN poll found that 63% of viewers thought she beat Trump, and a new Reuters/Ipsos poll taken on Thursday found her leading Trump by five points after the debate (47% to 42%), one point higher than in the previous poll.
The vice president told the rally audience that he spoke about issues “that matter to families across America” during the debate but insisted the former president had no plan.
“But that's not what we heard from Donald Trump. Instead, it was the same old show, the same stale strategy we've heard for years,” she said. “There was no plan for how to address the needs of the American people, because now it's all about him, not about you.”
The vice president also called for another debate after President Trump said on Thursday that he and Harris would not debate again.
“Two days ago, Donald Trump and I had our first debate,” she said, responding to roars from the crowd, “and I believe we have an obligation to the voters to debate again, because this election and what's at stake couldn't be more important.”
Trump rejected the idea, posting on social platform X ahead of Harris' rally that Harris wanted a second debate because he lost.
“Kamala should focus on what she should have done over the last 4 years or so: No 3rd debate!” he wrote.
