Charlie Hull is taking the world by storm, gaining fans by being her authentic self, and she continues to be one of the most approachable women in the LPGA, garnering the attention of many.
Who would have thought that she would become a fan favorite for smoking? Sure, she's good at golf and is incredibly talented, but she still doesn't act like anyone else.
Ahead of the Solheim Cup, Hull borrowed a fan's lighter during practice and started smoking again, which got him thinking about why so many people like him.
“Well, I'm just me. I'm who I am. Whatever I like, I like for myself,” Halle said. “If other people don't like it, it's not their life. I love myself. I live my life the way I want to live it, not the way other people want me to live it. I live like a normal person.”
Being yourself isn't always an achievable goal, but it seems easy for Halle. Her best friend, Georgia Hall, also has a reason why so many people love Halle.
“She's different than anyone else and that's why people love her and she's really fun to be around and a genuine, kind person,” Hall said. “She's a great golfer so obviously that helps. Yeah, she doesn't care what other people think and she lives her life the way she wants to and I think a lot of people can learn from that.”
Hall is spot on when she talks about how many people can learn from Halle's approach to things: being herself allows her to enjoy life without the pressure of worrying about what other people think. Although definitions vary, confidence is a big thing for many people; people are attracted to others who accept them for who they are.
It's easy to see why Halle is so well liked. Golfers tend to be quiet and aloof, but not this English woman. She loves herself and doesn't care what other people think. Halle leads by example and more people should follow that mindset.
