The nation's largest Catholic advocacy group has launched an ad campaign accusing Vice President Kamala Harris of supporting taxpayer-funded sex-reassignment surgery for minors.
The fiery, six-figure ad began airing Monday in four key battleground states — Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Nevada and Michigan — and is intended to target Catholic voters and households with children.
The ad, published exclusively by The Washington Post, cites Medicaid data showing the number of sex-reassignment surgeries performed on children in each state.
“Medicaid data shows [97 in PA; 86 in WI; 18 in NV; 35 in MI] The ad begins with the sentence, “Underage girls' breasts have been completely removed,” followed by a number in parentheses depending on the state in which the ad airs.
“[14 in PA; 12 in WI; 3 in NV; 7 in MI] Underage girls undergoing hysterectomies. Sex-change operations to turn boys into girls. Penile amputations.
“Does it sound weird? Does it sound gross?” the ad's narrator says. “It does. And you're paying for it.”
“Kamala Harris supports taxpayer-funded sex-change surgery. A vote for Harris is a vote for medical experimentation on children.”
The Harris-Biden administration recently reaffirmed its position that children should be allowed to undergo gender reassignment surgery at taxpayer expense, as long as the child's parents and doctor approve it. The administration said that while it believes surgery should generally be limited to adults, it will not prevent children from undergoing life-changing surgery if the above conditions are met.
“We will continue to fight state and federal bans on gender-affirming care, which represents a continuum of care, and respect the role of parents, families and physicians, not politicians, in these decisions,” said Neera Tanden, director of the White House Domestic Policy Council. lawyer.
“Gender reassignment surgery is typically done for adults, and we believe it should be that way,” Tanden said.
Since becoming the Democratic presidential candidate, Harris has not put forward any different campaign policies regarding gender reassignment surgery.
“Most people have no idea about the scale, scope and money of the transgender policies being forced upon our children,” Brian Burch, president of the Catholic Vote, told The Post.
“This is bizarre. The genitals and reproductive organs of physically healthy boys and girls are being destroyed. Kamala Harris and her Democratic allies in the Senate not only think this is acceptable, but they're making taxpayers foot the bill for it. Unlike fracking, police budget cuts and border security, Kamala has still not changed her stance on making Americans foot the bill for medical experiments on their children.”
In April, the Vatican released a document outlining the Catholic Church's position on sex-change surgery, arguing that it is against human dignity.
“Any gender reassignment intervention therefore, in principle, runs the risk of jeopardizing the inherent dignity that a person has inherited from the moment of conception,” the Infinite Dignity document states.
The Harris campaign did not respond to inquiries from The Washington Post.
