Mets avoid calamity with Francisco Lindor’s back injury update

Francisco Lindor received the good news following an MRI on his lower back on Monday that he is expected to play again during the regular season.

On the other hand, he won't be joining the Mets right away.

The Mets shortstop said he will miss three to five days, but it could only be two or three if his back responds quickly.

Lindor, who missed Saturday's game at Philadelphia because of back soreness, attempted to play Sunday but was removed in the bottom of the second inning.

“I expect it to continue the rest of the year, but we'll figure it out,” Lindor said before the Mets opened their series against the Nationals at Citi Field. [Tuesday] I still have some pain when I wake up in the morning, but it's not too bad and will probably be the same for the rest of the year.”

Lindor said he doesn't know the exact diagnosis but believes it's a positive assessment.

“Every day on the way to the MRI I was praying for some kind of result,” Lindor said, “and God answered my prayers.”
