Disney Tried to Make ‘Inside Out 2′ ‘Less Gay’ After ‘Lightyear’ Flopped

Multiple Sources said IGN noted that Disney executives shouldered much of the blame internally. Lightyear's It was financially unsuccessful due to a lesbian kissing scene, which was briefly removed, but was reinstated after an internal staff revolt.

LGBTQ employees at Pixar reportedly sent a letter to Disney management accusing them of censoring “explicit gay affection” at a time when employees were protesting Florida's “Parental Rights in Education Bill,” which would protect public school students from extreme gender theory, including transgenderism, and other LGBTQ indoctrination.

Lightyear It was released in 2022 but was a massive flop, grossing just $118 million at the domestic box office.

Disney appears to have learned its lesson, with executives now actively involved in the project's development. Inside Out 2.

Multiple sources told IGN that they remember there being ongoing direction to make Riley, the main character in both Inside Out films, look “less gay,” which resulted in numerous edits around September 2023 after Hollywood's writers strike was resolved.

Sources say that Riley and Val's relationship was created with special consideration. Val is Inside Out 2to make it seem as platonic as possible, even going so far as to edit the lighting and tone of certain scenes to remove all traces of “romantic chemistry.”

“They're just putting in a lot of extra work to make sure no one thinks they're not straight,” a source told IGN.

Lightyear This isn't the only Disney animated film to fail in recent years.

Disney Strange world, The film, which was released in 2022, portrayed a gay teen protagonist. This animated film is LightyearIt grossed just $31 million domestically.

The Walt Disney Company has come under fire in recent years for including LGBTQ messages in its children's entertainment.

Disney has fought Florida's parental rights anti-grooming law, created multiple transgender characters for its children's programming, put gay characters at the center of its big-budget films, and even launched an LGBTQ-themed clothing line.

Last year, Disney CEO Bob Iger laid off 7,000 employees worldwide as the company's financial situation worsened, and Disney has continued to lay off employees this year, including at ABC News and other television networks.
