Authorities in New Hampshire worked around the clock through the night to free an 11-year-old boy who was trapped between two rocks.

The child was found trapped between two rocks on the grounds of Wedico Children's Services, a boarding school in Windsor, New Hampshire. Boston 25 News reports that the child was found on the grounds of Camp Wedico, a camp for emotionally disturbed children.

The Manchester Fire Department told Patch that multiple fire units were called to the scene just before midnight Sunday.

Patch reported that the child was “conscious and alert and was found about 4 to 5 feet deep between rocks with a narrow passage on either side.”

“Manchester Rescue 1 worked with fire and emergency services on scene and dug a tunnel into the side of the rocks which enabled crews to reach the victim's feet and assist in extracting him from the rocks,” the statement said.

Authorities reportedly used shovels, jackhammers, power saws and lubricants to “hoist the boy vertically” between the rocks. Boston 25 News reported that the boy had been trapped for nine hours when he was finally freed.

The boy's current condition is unknown, but Patch reported he only suffered minor injuries.
