A third-grade teacher in Union Parish, Louisiana, was arrested Thursday after allegedly threatening to shoot his students.
of New York Post Reported Robert Mitchum, 70, a teacher at Downsville Community Charter School (DCCS), was charged with uttering threats after he allegedly told students he had a loaded gun and was going to bring it to school and shoot them.
Noe attention Mitcham also reportedly said, “Some of the students will not survive.”
Through their investigation, Union Parish Police found that Mitchum allegedly told the children, “There are too many of you and I can't chase you all away” and “There are only six bullets in the gun.”
Mitchum was arrested and is barred from returning to campus until the case against him is resolved.
Union County Sheriff Dusty Gates assured parents in a Facebook post, “DCCS has two School Resource Officers on-site every day, and we urge you to utilize these officers to discuss any concerns you may have, especially any planned acts of violence.”
“In addition, anonymous reports can be submitted online through the Safe Schools Louisiana app or website, the UPSO app or Crime Stoppers of Union Parish,” he concluded.
