Decade of Rape, Days Long ‘Freak Offs,’ Prostitution, Kidnapping, Arson, Bribery

The United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York has unsealed a federal indictment against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, alleging abuse, threats, extortion, racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice against women and others over a period of more than a decade.

Combs, who was arrested Monday night, was charged with three counts of conspiracy to defraud, sex trafficking and transportation for prostitution, the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced. press release.

  • Combs “abuses, intimidates and coerces women and others to satisfy his own sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct.”
  • Through his business empire, Combs created a “criminal enterprise” whose members engaged in or sought to engage in crimes including “sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice.”
  • Combs “engaged in sustained and pervasive abusive behavior toward women and other individuals,” including “verbal, emotional, physical and sexual” abuse.
  • Combs “manipulated women into participating in highly organized sexual acts with male commercial sex workers.”
  • Combs and others acting under his direction arranged for women and sex workers to be flown to his locations, where he “obtained and distributed drugs, controlled their careers and threatened to terminate them using his financial backing, and used intimidation and violence to secure their participation.”
  • Combs “assaulted” the women, including “punching, punching, dragging, throwing objects at and kicking,” and also “became violent” towards “staff, witnesses to the abuse and others.”
  • Combs allegedly tried to bribe a hotel security guard who intervened during the 2016 incident to “keep quiet,” in a video that shows Combs kicking, dragging and throwing a vase at the woman.
  • Combs used his business and employees to “perform, facilitate and conceal abusive and commercial sex acts.”

Additionally, Combs “led a criminal enterprise” called “Combs Enterprises” that “existed to facilitate the abuse and exploitation of women, to protect his own reputation, and to cover up his conduct,” the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York alleges.

“As part of this criminal enterprise, Combs, along with other members and associates of the organization, committed crimes including sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice,” the federal government added.

Additionally, Combs allegedly hosted events he called “Freak Offs,” during which women would often engage in elaborate, multi-day sex acts with male prostitutes.

Combs arranged and conducted Freak Off, and allegedly masturbated while performing it, often electronically recording it.

The freak-offs “occurred on a regular basis, sometimes lasting several days and often involving multiple prostitutes,” according to the indictment, which adds that Combs “distributed various controlled substances to the victims” during the freak-offs “to keep them compliant and submissive.”

According to the federal indictment, Combs and the victims “received intravenous therapy to help them recover from physical exertion and drug use following the Freak Off incidents.”

During searches of Combs' Miami and Los Angeles properties in March, authorities seized a variety of “freak-off paraphernalia,” including “narcotics and more than 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.”

To secure participation in Freak Off, Combs used “force and intimidation” and exerted power over his victims, the US Attorney for the Southern District of New York alleges.

“Combs allegedly intimidated the victims, threatening to release embarrassing and sensitive footage he recorded on Freak Offs if the women did not comply with his demands,” the federal government added.

According to the indictment, Combs also threatened the victims' jobs and livelihoods if they refused to participate in the Freak Off.

Combs is charged with one count of organized criminal conspiracy, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, one count of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, and one count of transportation for the purposes of prostitution, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
