Jordan Love returns to practice less after scary MCL sprain

Jordan Love returned to practice on Wednesday, just 12 days after suffering a knee injury in the season-opening game in Brazil.

Initial reports had suggested Love could miss nearly a month with a sprained MCL, but his return to the practice field means the Packers quarterback could be available for Sunday's game against the Titans.

Love, 25, wore a sleeve on his injured left knee and participated in non-contact drills with receivers and running backs.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters Love's practice was “limited” and that it was “great to have our quarterback out there.”

“We'll see how he progresses over the course of the week.” LaFleur says.

Love still needs to receive medical clearance before taking any action.

“The trainers watch everything I do and they won't let me fight unless they're sure I can defend myself,” Love said. According to ESPN:“But at the same time, that's why it's good to go back and practice it a few times and get a feel for what it feels like.”

Love has only missed one game since suffering the injury against the Eagles.

The injury occurred during the Packers' final attacking possession of the game, with backup quarterback Malik Willis under center on the final two plays.

Willis started in last week's 16-10 win over the Colts.

Love expressed his excitement to be on the practice field but acknowledged there are limitations to what can be accomplished in practice.

“There's nothing quite like the excitement of being hit by live ammunition. It feels like you're in a match and it's really exciting,” he said. “So there's a lot of things I'm missing out on before I get back in the game.”

The Packers will face the Titans in Nashville at 1 p.m.
