The Panthers are denying rumors that they will trade Bryce Young.
“It's not something we're really considering,” Panthers coach Dave Canales said. From ESPN“Right now, we have a great quarterback situation with a lot of experienced guys. We're happy with where we are and everyone is committed.”
The speculation began after the Panthers announced they would bench Young and replace him with veteran Andy Dalton after Young finished with just 84 passing yards and one interception in a 26-3 loss to the Chargers in Week 3.
According to a report from ESPN, Young has the worst performance of any quarterback drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in the Super Bowl era through 18 games.
The 23-year-old was the No. 1 overall pick in 2023 and has struggled in the NFL.
Canales added that Young could still be a franchise quarterback, telling reporters on Wednesday, “Absolutely.”
“This is a development-focused program, so the development never stops,” he said. “Every time he plays, we evaluate him as a whole, we talk about it and we continue to push all of our players, including Bryce, to take the next step.”
A source told ESPN that Young was not happy about the news he was being benched, but added that the quarterback would remain professional under the circumstances.
Young completed just 31 of 56 passes through the first two games of the season, threw no touchdown passes and was intercepted three times.

The second-year quarterback is scheduled to speak with reporters on Thursday.
The Panthers will travel to Las Vegas in Week 3 to face the Raiders with Dalton in the starting lineup.
The Raiders (1-1) defeated the Ravens 26-23.
