Harris tells Oprah anyone breaking into her home is ‘getting shot:’ ‘Probably should not have said that’

Vice President Kamala Harris shocked Oprah Winfrey on Thursday when she said during a virtual campaign rally that anyone who breaks into her home “will be shot.”

Winfrey hosted a “Unite for America Rally,” a livestreamed event that featured questions and stories from several celebrities and citizens across the country.

As the event turned to the issue of gun violence, Winfrey expressed how surprised she was when Harris revealed during last week's presidential debate that she owns a gun.

“I had no idea that,” Winfrey exclaimed, “and I thought that was powerful.”

“If someone breaks into my house, they'll be shot, unfortunately,” Harris said with a laugh.

Wealthy DNC speakers like Oprah and Obama denounce wealth inequality and America's obsession with money.

“Yes, yes. I've heard that, I've heard that,” Winfrey replied.

“I probably shouldn't have said that,” Harris said as everyone laughed, “but my staff will deal with that later.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Harris campaign for comment.

“I've been very clear about where I stand on fracking and gun confiscation,” Harris said during the presidential debate. “Tim Walz and I both stand on the same page. Both are gun owners. We are not taking away anyone's guns, so please stop lying about this.”

Recently, a video resurfaced of Harris, as San Francisco's district attorney in 2007, saying that police officers could enter the locked homes of lawful gun owners to inspect how their weapons were stored.

“We ask everyone in our community to act responsibly. Just because you legally own a gun behind locked doors does not mean we won't go into your home and make sure you're acting responsibly and safely,” Gov. Harris said at the time.

Social media users reacted to Harris' comments on Thursday, pointing out that she has previously supported mandatory gun buybacks and other gun control measures.

“Kamala says she'd fuck up any intruder who comes into her house, then says, 'I shouldn't have said that.' Let's be clear – she has repeatedly called for confiscation of guns and will 100% do so if elected. Safe for me, not safe for you,” wrote Libs on TikTok.

Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller agreed, saying, “Kamala Harris has advocated for a door-to-door gun buyback program. Presumably any journalist worth their professional reputation would follow up on that.”

Conservative radio host Larry Eldern wrote, “'The guns are mine, not yours…'”

Derek Hunter, a columnist for Townhall.com, said, “She has round-the-clock security, and the Secret Service is going to shoot her. The people she wants to get rid of from security are you and your family. Oprah is paying people to protect her.”
