Absentee voting kicks off in Delaware, Indiana, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Vermont

Election season is in full swing, with absentee voting opening Saturday in seven states: Delaware, Indiana, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Vermont.

That means more than a dozen states, including Wisconsin, Minnesota and Virginia, have begun voting. The states that begin early voting Saturday aren't competitive at the presidential level, but two are competitive in House races.

  • Indiana 1st Congressional District: Democratic Rep. Frank Mulvan easily won his first election here in 2020, but redistricting has limited his chances of winning by less than six points in 2022. This year, he's facing off against local Republican Rep. Randy Niemeyer. This northwest district includes two of the state's most competitive counties, Lake and Porter. The race is ranked D-leaning in the Fox News Power Rankings.
  • New Jersey 7th Congressional District: Republicans flipped New Jersey's 7th Congressional District in 2022, but it was a close call. Incumbent Rep. Tom Kean Jr. won by just under three points. He's facing off against Democrat Sue Altman, a teacher, this year in the district that includes Bedminster, Somerset and Union counties. This race is favored by Republicans in our power rankings.
