“What would Susan Sontag (whom I knew a little) or Virginia Woolf have thought of this photo? Anyone have any advice?”
It's not clear why the photo upset the 73-year-old businessman, but several Instagram users accused the critic of “bullying,” while others responded by asking what the two famous female authors would have said.
Page Six reached out to his rep for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

“Has anyone spotted Jeff Bezos' new wife? [sic] “Lauren Sanchez, are you seriously disgusting? Such an ugly, insanely vain couple,” he captioned a slideshow featuring the couple.
Chrissy Teigen, 38, quickly fired back at McNally, commenting, “She is so dynamic, talented and kind and anyone who knows her would say the same.”
Following backlash from the model and several others, McNally edited the caption to remove the word “offensive.”
Meanwhile, Sanchez fended off his harsh words by sharing a scathing message on her Instagram story.
“People will love you. People will hate you. And none of it has anything to do with you,” one of her posts read.
The former entertainment reporter also shared a quote from fashion designer Rachel Zoe.
“Lead with kindness, support your loved ones, and just wish everyone the best in your heart,” the citation encourages.
