Republican Party Needs to ‘Move On’ from Trump Worship

Former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R-Ga.) said on CNN's “Anderson Cooper 360” on Friday that the Republican Party needs to “move away” from its worship of former President Donald Trump.

“What is your reaction to this manual count rule in your home state?” Cooper asked.

“This newly reconstituted State Election Board has stuck to its guns. They've been holding Donald Trump accountable for months, biting him by the ankles. Looking for a problem, looking for a solution. Today they've put the ultimate asterisk on November's election,” Duncan said.

He continued, “For me, this effort from day one isn't about popularity. It's about rebuilding the Republican Party, and it needs to start here in Georgia. Republicans here in Georgia are fundamentally broken. The state party is dysfunctional and they only worship one person, and that's Donald Trump. If Trump tells them to jump off a bridge, they'll do it. If he tells them to rig the election, they'll do it. And that's exactly what's happening with the State Board of Elections.”

Mr Duncan added: “We as a country and as a party need to move forward from this extremely chaotic period we find ourselves in.”
