Obituary Specifications:

• Name of the deceased,
• Obituary text,
• Photos should preferably be in JPEG or PDF file format, however we also accept TIF and other files and will contact you if there are any issues with the photo.
• Advertisement Date
• Discounts are available for multi-day runs, but they must be scheduled on the first day of operation to apply.
• If you wish to use photos they must be used on both days to qualify for the discount, so please contact us for more information.

Confirmation of death:

The name and phone number of the funeral home/cremation association is required to post the obituary. The funeral home/cremation association must be contacted during business hours to verify the death. If the deceased's body has been donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomical Bequest Program or similar program, a phone number is required for verification.

Be sure to allow plenty of time to contact them, especially if they have limited opening hours on weekends.

A death certificate is also accepted for this purpose, but only one of these two options is required.

Guestbooks and external websites:

When posting obituaries in print or online, it is not permitted to reference other media sources in the obituary book or elsewhere. Instead, you may include the funeral home website and/or email addresses for family contacts. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact us.

Obituary Procedures:

Once submitted, you will receive a fax or email proof for you to review before it is published in the newspaper, showing the price of your ad and the date it will appear.

Check the proof carefully. Based on daily deadlines, you should be notified of errors or changes before the notice appears on Pioneer Press.

We cannot be held responsible for errors that occur after publication and final proofreading.

All obituaries are Twin Cities There will be a permanent online guestbook. If you would like to remove your online presence, please contact us and we will remove your guestbook online. Changes to the online obituary can be handled by the Obituary Desk. Please call us with any questions.

Payment instructions:

Obituary posting requires prepayment by the deadline specified in the deadline schedule below. Please call us for more information. 651-228-5263 Once you receive the proof and have approved it, please provide us with your payment information.

Credit card: Due to PCI (Payment Card Industry) regulations, we only accept payments over the phone.

EFT: Please call us to confirm and provide us with your routing number and account number.

cash: We accept Front Counter Monday to Friday 8am to 3.30pm

Fee:

• The minimum fee for the first 10 lines is $162.
• Each line after the first 10 is $12.20.
• If your ad is less than 10 lines, you will be charged the minimum rate of $162.
• On the second run date, it will be $8.20 per line, starting with the first line.
• For example, if the first run date has 20 rows, the cost will be $164.
• The fee per photo published is $125 per day.
• For example, if two photos are published in the newspaper on two days, the fee is $500 for four photos.

Memorial (non-obituary) requests

Unlike an obituary, an obituary is a memorial to a loved one who has passed away. Obituaries are priced differently than obituaries.
