Angelina Jolie has revealed that she and her 16-year-old daughter Vivienne have matching tattoos.
new Interview with CR Fashion Book, The 49-year-old actress revealed that she and Vivienne recently got tattoos to celebrate the Broadway musical “The Outsiders,” which the mother-daughter duo worked on together.
“My daughter Viv and I got Stay Gold while I was in The Outsiders,” Jolie said. “It means so much to both of us, separately.”

The Oscar winner first showed off the tattoo on the red carpet at the opening night of “The Outsiders” with Vivienne in April. The tattoo reads “Stay Gold” in black letters on her left arm, along with several other tattoos. During an interview with CR Fashion Book, Jolie did not reveal where Vivienne got her tattoo.

The Outsider is based on the 1967 book of the same name by S. E. Hinton and the 1983 film adaptation by Francis Ford Coppola starring C. Thomas Howell, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio and Diane Lane.
“Stay Gold” is a famous line that appears in books and movies. It comes from a line in the poem “Nothing Gold Can Stay” by Robert Frost. “Stay Gold” is also a song in the musical “The Outsiders.”

Jolie told the outlet that her other children have matching bird tattoos and that the tattoos are “special to us,” but she did not reveal whether each of her children has a bird tattoo.
In addition to Vivienne and her twin brother Knox, Jolie also has a son with ex-husband Brad Pitt. Maddox23, and Pax20 years old, Daughters Zahara19 years old, and Shiro, 18 years old.
At the 2024 Tony Awards in June, Jolie debuted a little bird tattoo on her chest, but it's unclear if it's the same tattoo she referenced in her CR Fashion Book interview.

The “Maleficent” star was one of the winners of the Best New Musical award, marking her first Tony win, as she served as a producer on the musical. Jolie and Vivienne walked the Tony Awards red carpet together in matching teal outfits.

Jolie previously said that Vivienne was inspired to produce the Broadway musical 'The Outsiders' after seeing multiple performances at San Diego's La Jolla Playhouse.
“My daughter Viv loves theater,” Jolie told Deadline in a June interview. “She goes to all the plays, but she knows exactly what she connects to and responds to. She went to see 'The Outsiders' at La Jolla like five times and she'd been telling me about it. I'd read the book and seen the movie years ago.”

Jolie recalled Vivienne inviting her to go see the play with her, and began to understand why her daughter resonated with the show so much.

“Danya talks about how important this film is to teenagers, and that it was written by someone my daughter's age,” Jolie told the outlet. “So I was watching it as a mother, as a person, but I was really looking at how this film was affecting my young daughter and what it was telling me about herself, and learning what it was about this film that was important to her and why it connected so deeply with her.”
She continued, “So this was a very different experience of realizing how this has had such an impact on her now, this young person. She's trying to communicate something to me, and that's the power of this material, which was already in such good condition at the time.”

“And I've had the honor of watching everyone work over the last year to bring this to fruition, and Vivian has been there the whole time.”

In an interview with CR Fashion Book, Jolie spoke about the lessons she's learned from her kids.
“There are too many to list, I can't pick just one,” she says, “but the moment you become a parent, you're no longer the first person. Your life belongs to someone else, and that's an amazing feeling.”
