Mick Jagger's age is no big deal for his girlfriend Melanie Hamrick.
Hamrick, 37, a former ballerina, wastes no time thinking about the 44-year age difference between her and the Rolling Stones lead singer, who turned 81 in July.
“I don't think about it. Everyone will have their own opinion,” she said. Times. “When you think about other people's opinions, you have problems at any stage of life and you analyze them.”

Hamrick added: “I put the blinders on. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people around me happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. No. They can just focus on themselves.”
The longtime couple first met backstage at a Rolling Stones concert in Tokyo in February 2014. He gave her a quick handshake before walking past, and the rest is history.
“He's about to go on stage. He's having his big moment,” she said. “Everybody has different things.”
“I put on the blinders. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people around me happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. OK, they should just focus on themselves.”

A month after they met, Mick Jagger's longtime girlfriend, fashion designer L'Wren Scott, committed suicide. After her death, Jagger wrote that he “struggled to understand how my lover and best friend could have ended her life in such a tragic way.”

Fast forward to the summer, and Mick Jagger was dating Hamrick, and she insisted she wasn't pining for the famous musician.
“When ballet dancers meet the big stars, they ask themselves, 'Who are you?' Because to us, ballet dancers are gods. They are people we learn from and look up to. They're just in their own world,” Hamrick said.

While Mick Jagger is not in the ballet world, she said, “Mick has that perfect balance. He's not a ballet dancer, but he's a dancer and a performer, and we understand each other's worlds, but we're not in each other's world.”
In 2016, the couple welcomed their eighth child, a son named Deveraux “Devi” Octavian Basil Jagger, with her fifth partner.

Jagger's other children include Charis Hunt Jagger with actress Marsha Hunt, Jade Sheena Jezebel Jagger with ex-wife Bianca Jagger, Elizabeth Scarlett Jagger with Jerry Hall, James LeRoy Augustine Jagger, Georgia Mae Aisha Jagger, Gabriel Luke Beauregard Jagger, and Lucas Maurice Morado Jagger with Luciana Jimenez Morado.
It was Jagger who inspired Hamrick to finally pick up the pen and write a book: She published her debut novel, “First Position,” last year, and her sequel, “The Unlabeling,” is due out Sept. 26.

Hamrick's anecdotes about her 16-year career with New York's American Ballet Theatre were enough for the global superstar, and one day he urged her to tell them.
She recalled: “I was like, 'I want to write a book. I want to write a book,' and finally he said, 'Oh, God, please write a book!'
