Grammy Award-winning rapper Macklemore caused controversy at a recent benefit concert for Palestine in Seattle, where he was filmed yelling “F**k America” to cheering crowds..
Saturday's event, titled “Palestine Lives Forever,” was aimed at raising funds for several organizations, including the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Linked From Israeli authorities to Hamas.
“Let me be clear, I'm not going to stop you. I'm not going to stop you. That's right, fuck America,” he said, apparently in response to chants from the crowd.
Macklemore, who was born Benjamin Hammond Haggerty, faced immediate criticism after journalist Cam Higbee shared footage of the episode on social media.
“There's a lot of overlap between people who hate Jews and people who hate America,” writes freelance writer Melissa Brownstein.
“I can't believe that all the anti-Semites and Israel haters (I repeat) also share a common hatred for America,” wrote the popular Han Shawnity account. “I have yet to meet someone who genuinely loves America and hates Israel at the same time.”
“Why is that?” he asked.
“The Palestinian movement is not the last of America. If anything, America sounds dead. The desecration of the American flag, its replacement with foreign flags, the waving of terrorist flags, and attacks on holidays, national monuments and police are all daily occurrences,” writes terrorism expert Dr Max Abrams.
“He should give up all his American money and leave the country,” suggested author Libby Emmons.
“He hates Jews. He hates America. Just like Hamas,” wrote Dumisani Washington, CEO of the Israeli Black Solidarity Institute. “He should emigrate to Gaza.”
“[T]”He said the quiet parts out loud,” journalist Daniel Greenfield writes.
“It's a relief to know I'm not on the same side as Macklemore,” wrote podcaster Stephen L. Miller.
Rappers have become increasingly vocal about the Middle East conflict. release He sang songs criticizing U.S. policies and called for an end to support for Israel.
In May he Expressed Trump expressed solidarity with anti-Israel protesters, condemned Israel's military operation against Hamas terrorists and delivered pro-Palestinian views in front of a packed audience in Wellington, New Zealand's capital.
Macklemore's chants reflect growing anti-American sentiment at pro-Palestinian events.
According to world-renowned military historian and professor Dr. Victor Davis Hanson, Hamas is a “death cult” Depends He relies on “useful Western idiots” to support the Palestinian cause, who he says have “fused with the left-wing DEI industry.” Moreover, he argues that pro-Palestinian protests and support for Hamas in the U.S. have alienated many Americans, and that 2024 will likely see the election of a hard-line conservative president.
