Ryan Wesley Routh wrote note he intended to kill Trump months before golf-course assassination attempt: DOJ

A suspect accused of plotting to assassinate Donald Trump on a Florida golf course penned a chilling note several months earlier declaring his intention to kill the former president, the Department of Justice said Monday.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly left a note addressed to “To the World” at the unnamed person's home months before the Sept. 15 assassination attempt at a West Palm Beach golf course.

“This was an assassination attempt against Donald Trump and I have failed you,” the letter said.

“I did my best and put all the grit I had into it. Now it's up to you to finish the job. I'll offer $150,000 to whoever gets the job done.”

An attorney for Routh did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment Monday morning.
