Chandler Jones tries to call Tom Brady during run-in with police in video

Police body camera footage of former NFL star Chandler Jones being detained by police during a psychiatric evaluation shows Jones attempting to call former Patriots teammate Tom Brady while handcuffed on Nov. 27, 2023.

In the eight-minute video, TMZ obtained the information on Tuesday.Maricopa County Sheriff's Office deputies in Arizona went to Jones' home to check on him after hearing people were concerned about him, and one of the deputies later announced they were taking him to a psychiatric hospital.

“I'm calling Tom Brady right now,” Jones, clad only in underwear and socks, said in the video while on speaker.

The video does not show Brady answering the phone.

Jones and Brady were teammates with the Patriots for four seasons and won the Super Bowl together in 2015, when New England beat the Seahawks 28-24.

Jones also asked if he could call his brother, Jon Jones, a UFC star.

Police arrived at Jones' home following a court-ordered mental health complaint.

Before Jones mentioned Brady, the veteran pass rusher was seen crying to police about an unnamed woman with whom he was in an intimate relationship who was present during the police visit.

The All-Pro defensive end claimed he was bitten by a woman's dog but said he doesn't plan to press charges against the woman.

“Mr. Jones, can you tell us a bit more about what's going on, because it appears some people are concerned,” said one of the officers, who appeared to be wearing a body camera.

Jones' attitude has since changed.

“Get out. Get out of my house,” he said. “Get out. This is over. Get out. Get out of here.”

At one point, Jones sat on the ground and told officers he didn't want to speak to a doctor.

“It's kind of painful when a celebrity comes to my mansion and tells me to go to a psychiatric ward,” he said.

Jones also asked if he would end up going to prison if he didn't go to a psychiatric hospital.

He was eventually transferred to a nearby psychiatric hospital “without further incident,” according to police documents obtained by TMZ.

Prior to that incident, Jones was arrested on two counts of violating a domestic violence protective order in Las Vegas on Sept. 30, 2023, and was released by the Raiders two days later.

His arrest came a day after he posted a 25-minute livestream on X Channel in which he broke down in tears while speaking about then-Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels and former teammate Aaron Hernandez, who was convicted of murder and killed himself in prison in 2017.

Separately, in a series of now-deleted posts about X, Jones claimed he was forcibly committed to a psychiatric hospital by the Las Vegas Fire Department and injected with drugs he did not want to take.

Jones, a first-round draft pick by the Patriots in 2012 out of Syracuse University, signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Raiders in March 2022 after six seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.
