The son of Ryan Routh, the man who attempted to assassinate President Trump, has been detained on federal charges of possessing child pornography.
Authorities seized multiple electronic devices from the Greensboro, North Carolina, home of 35-year-old Oran Alexander Routh on Saturday, including “hundreds” of files containing child exploitation material, investigators said. The illegal materials were discovered during a search conducted “in connection with an unrelated investigation into child exploitation,” according to the complaint.
Routh was charged with receiving and possessing child pornography.

The child pornography was discovered during a search of Routh's home in connection with the investigation of Routh's father, Ryan Routh, 58. Routh was arrested on September 15 after a gun was found protruding from shrubbery on the golf course where former President Trump was playing that afternoon. Records show Routh had been camping outside the golf course for nearly 12 hours with food and a rifle.
The Republican presidential candidate was unscathed in the incident.
