Former President Donald Trump is planning to hold an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, the same location where the first assassination attempt on him occurred.

The Trump campaign announced in a news release Wednesday that Butler was being reinstated as the Republican candidate.
“President Donald J. Trump will return to Butler, Pennsylvania to hold a rally at the very place where he nearly lost his life less than three months ago,” the campaign said in a statement.
He will be speaking on the Butler Farm Show grounds on Oct. 5.Number.
At a rally in Mint Hill, North Carolina, on Wednesday, Trump told the gathered fans and supporters he would be returning to the venue “to finish my speech.”
“As you know, to our knowledge, there have been two assassination attempts on me. The first one took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. It's a great place. We're going back to Butler,” Trump said. “I'll come back and finish my speech.”
The Trump campaign said during the rally that the former president would also pay tribute to the victim of the assassination attempt: 50-year-old firefighter Corey Comperatore, who “historically sacrificed his life to protect his wife and daughter” from a barrage of bullets fired by 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot and killed by a Secret Service counter sniper.
Trump is also expected to thank the two other Americans injured in the incident, David Duch and James Copenhaver.
“He would like to express his deep gratitude to police and emergency personnel and would be grateful for the outpouring of love and support he has received from across the community following the attack,” the campaign said.
The Trump campaign said his return was a “tribute to the American spirit”.
“In America, we will not let monsters like that evil assassin have the last word. Whenever our nation faces attack or hardship, we unite, we endure, and we prevail,” the campaign said in a statement. “When terrorists topple skyscrapers, we rebuild even taller. When our communities are ravaged by fire, storms, and natural disasters, we come back united and stronger.”
“And as a gunman attacked our democracy and sought to end this movement, President Trump will return to that place with tens of thousands of proud Americans, and together we will celebrate a unified vision for America's future in an event like the world has never seen before.”
The former president has survived two assassination attempts in the past nine weeks – one at his golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida, and another in Butler, Pennsylvania – but his campaign has declared he is “more determined than ever.”
