The late Christopher Hitchens was an undeniably influential intellectual figure, but sadly, some of his darkest predictions are coming true.
“Either you give it up, or you hand it over to your worst enemy and pay the price for the rope that will hang you,” Hitchens said in an interview in 2009. “Folks, this is a very urgent issue.”
“I plead with you all, fight back while you still can, and before the next thing that happens is your right to complain is taken away. You'll be told you can't complain because you're an Islamophobe. The language has already been co-opted into the culture, as if it were an accusation of racial hatred,” he continued.
“The barbarians will never take a city until someone opens the gates, and the people who open the gates for you are your preachers, your multicultural authorities. Resist, resist while you can,” he added.
Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report is astounded.
“Christopher Hitchens was warning his country, he was warning the whole world, but his warning to his country was to fight back while you can,” Rubin said, noting that Democratic politicians are now openly discussing how to “censor disinformation.”
“You might think, 'Oh, it makes absolutely no sense for all these genderqueer weirdos to work with Hamas people unless their goal is complete and total power,' but actually it makes perfect sense, and that's exactly where we are,” he added.
