2 United Airlines passengers injured after aircraft abruptly slows descent

United Airlines said last week that the plane had to rapidly slow its descent into San Francisco International Airport to avoid other aircraft, and two passengers were taken to hospital.

The accident on United Airlines Flight 2428 occurred on Sept. 19 while the flight was departing from Newark, New Jersey, the airline told Fox News Digital in a statement Thursday morning.

The airline said the plane began its descent with the seatbelt signs on when the pilot took action “to prepare for another aircraft at low altitude.”

“Two passengers, one of whom was not in his seat at the time, reported possible injuries and were taken to a hospital,” United Airlines said in a statement. “We thank our flight attendants for their hard work in keeping our employees and customers safe.”
