Pompeo draws contrast between Zelensky visits with Trump, Biden

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy's meeting with former President Donald Trump was a “very different” meeting than with President Biden or his 2024 election opponent.

Secretary Pompeo said of the meeting between Zelensky and Vice President Harris: “In one case, they met with the vice president who was responsible for the killing of tens of thousands of Zelensky's citizens in Ukraine.” . fox news Friday.

“And another president who held Vladimir Putin in check for four years,” he added of Trump.

President Trump met with President Zelenskiy at Trump Tower in New York on Friday and said his relationship with the Ukrainian leader was “very good.” Recently, President Trump's comments regarding the war in Ukraine caused controversy after he refused to say during a presidential debate that he hoped Ukraine would defeat Russia.

Pompeo emphasized that Russia was stronger during the Trump administration, claiming that the former president had the ability to “deter” the Russian president despite “Russia disinformation.”

Pompeo told anchor Jesse Watters: “Despite CNN and the Washington Post talking about President Trump being a Russian puppet, the United States stands strong and was able to stop President Vladimir Putin. “It was,” he said.

Zelenskiy also met with Biden and Vice President Harris this week, and the Biden administration announced about $8 billion in aid to help Eastern European countries. As world leaders gather in New York for this week's United Nations General Assembly, Ukraine's president sought to present a peace plan to Trump, Biden and Harris.

Pompeo said there would be less risk in the Middle East and Europe with Trump in office, adding that a Republican administration would “confront” the Chinese Communist Party and secure the borders.

“With President Trump in office, we will achieve peace,” Pompeo said. “We will achieve a positive outcome for the Ukrainian people and President Vladimir Putin will be deterred from the kind of aggression we have seen again.”
