Harris Responded to Criticism She Doesn’t Answer Tough Questions by Doing a Softball Interview

On Friday's broadcast of HBO's “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said Vice President Kamala Harris, the “border czar” and 2024 Democratic presidential candidate, traveled to the border this week to highlight her vulnerability on border issues. She said she responded to criticism that she did not do so. Rather than give an interview and answer tough questions, he appeared on MSNBC and was interviewed without facing tough questions, joking that Harris rubbed his leg during the interview.

Maher said, “One of the big issues that she's vulnerable to is the border. So she went to the border this week. She went to the Arizona border. She used to be the border czar. . She visited there.”

Then he joked. “Interestingly enough, along with working at McDonald’s, there are two locations where she worked that had convenient drive-thrus.”

Maher continued. “Also, she's been trying to shore up her vulnerability, but there was a lot of pressure on her. She doesn't give interviews, she doesn't give answers. So she sat in an interview.” She said, “Okay, I’ll answer your tough questions.” So she appeared on MSNBC. Okay, okay, that wasn't it — it wasn't a tough question, but I expected it nonetheless. [them not to be rubbing her feet.]”
