GOP lawmaker tells Vance to 'harp on the record' of Biden administration in VP debate

Rep. Ralph Norman (R.C.) says he thinks Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) needs to “talk the record” of the Biden administration during the vice presidential debate. said.

Norman appeared on NewsNation's “The Hill Sunday” and offered some advice to Vance ahead of Tuesday's debate with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris' running mate. provided.

“What I want Mr. J.D. Vance to do is start with the same question that I just asked: 'Do you think the American people…are better off under a Harris-Biden administration?' The answer is pretty clear. “It will be,” Norman said.

He went on to say that he hopes Vance, former President Trump's running mate, will “set the record straight, leading with issues of immigration, crime and interest rates.”

Immigration and the economy are two of the biggest campaign issues for Republicans. Harris recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border, where she reversed some of her previous positions on immigration and called for increased border security.

With less than 40 days until the election, the debate between Mr. Vance and Mr. Walz could be important. This is seen as one of the last efforts by Harris and Trump to expand their message to the nation and appeal to voters who may still be undecided.

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont, a Democrat, also joined the show and said he hopes Walz can put a “human face” to the Harris campaign's policies.

Both candidates are likely to seek to target their opponents while emphasizing what they intend to do in office. But Norman said he expects Vance to focus on the last four years of the Biden administration.

Norman said Vance should take the lead because of “the fact that it's been a train wreck since he took office and nothing is going to change until the executive branch changes.”
