This Utah girl's imagination has truly become reality.
Last year, Rosili Olsen, 12, convinced Clearfield officials to build a playground based on a design she created with crayons and paper, so her younger siblings would have a place to run around.
The city's original plan to build a playground in Olsen's neighborhood caught Olsen's attention and concerns. It seemed too difficult for her sisters, who were four and eight years younger than her. According to reports.
“So she designed a playground that would be fun for all ages and came to City Hall with the drawings and requested a meeting with the parks director,” the city said. he said in a Facebook post.
“Seeing her positivity and details, we knew we had to make her dream come true.”
While the construction of a playground near her home was too advanced to change, there was other construction the city thought the girl could be involved with. According to KSL TV.
Her drawings helped city staff create a mock-up of the design, which she reviewed to ensure the playground “checked all the boxes and made sure the colors were appropriate.” Mr. Field said.
“It's a really great playground,” Rosilli, who was 11 years old when she painted the picture, told KSL. “So, how can I say it? It's really cool.”
The playground opened last Tuesday and the Olsen family was in attendance for the ribbon cutting.
“It means a lot,” the preteen added. “And now, when I'm an adult, I can tell my boyfriends.”
Eric Howes, director of Clearfield Community Services, praised her for doing something constructive instead of taking the usual route many adults take: complaining online.
“She saw something she didn't like,” Howes told the station. “And instead of just complaining or writing a terrible social media post, she said, 'I'm going to do something.' And she did. ”
