Fantasy football waiver wire: Best bye week replacements for tight ends in Week 5

The tight end position is always difficult for fantasy football managers to fill. Nothing gets easier during the bye week. The 2024 NFL season has reached Week 5; philadelphia eagles, detroit lions, Los Angeles Chargersand tennessee titans Everyone is off for the first bye week of the year.

The bye means fantasy managers will be without Dallas Goedert, Sam LaPorta, Hayden Hurst and Will Dissly. If you're short on cash this weekend, here are some tight ends worth considering. These are touchdown or bust lottery tickets, but they're probably available in most leagues.

Cade Otton, Buccaneers (15% enrollment)

Otton has put together back-to-back strong games with a combined 13 receptions on 17 targets over the past two weeks against the Eagles and Broncos. He didn't find the end zone, but as long as he stays outside of the end zone, his level will rise with increased work.

Tyler Craft, Packers (4% enrollment)

Craft broke out when Jordan Love returned to the lineup in Week 4. He caught six of nine targets for 53 yards and one touchdown. He surpassed his season total in targets and matched his season total in receptions. He's still something of a lottery pick, but if you miss out on a tight end with a bye, you'll have a great matchup in Week 5 against a Rams team that's giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to tight ends.

Blake Whiteheart (0% registration)

David Njoku narrowly scored in the match, with White Hart eventually scoring. He caught three passes for 13 yards and one touchdown. He's a TD-or-bust option while Njoku is out. If there is space on the list, you can apply, but if you are unsure, please refrain from applying. He will likely remain available and a further decision can be made once Njoku's status for the Week 5 Commander's game is confirmed.
