Caitlin Clark had a great rookie season with the Indiana Fever.

She broke single-season rookie records in several categories, made playoff history against the Connecticut Sun, and set a record for most assists in a single game midway through the year. She was named an All-Star and helped bring the Fever back to the postseason. Needless to say, millions of fans watched her matches on television and in arenas.

When asked on 60 Minutes what she thought was her “signature moment” this season, she had a surprising answer.

“I remember when we were in New York, Jonquel Jones set a good screen on me, and it actually ruptured my eardrums,” Clark recalled. “My eardrums burst just looking at the screen. It was a really great screen by J.J. She's a great player, but I think that speaks to the physicality of the league. She just hit me right. He took me places.”

“I think that's what I'll always remember when I first got into the league. … That's probably what I'll remember better, to be honest.”

This was one of Clark's first games of the season, and the hard screen was touted as her “Welcome to the WNBA” moment.

That moment happened on June 2 against Liberty. Clark had his worst game of the season, going 1-of-10 from the field and scoring just three points. Indiana University lost by 36 points. He scored less than 10 points only two more times during the season.

Clark and Fever began working in earnest after the Olympic break. The Fever won nine of their final 14 games and earned the sixth seed in the playoffs.
