Verizon says service has 'returned to normal levels' after thousands experienced outages 

Verizon said Monday that “engineers have fully restored today's network outage” after thousands of users reported the outage.

“Verizon engineers have fully recovered today's network outage that affected some customers. Service has returned to normal levels,” Verizon spokeswoman Ilya Hemlin said in a statement. “If you're still having trouble, we recommend restarting your device. We know how much you trust Verizon, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience. Masu.”

Thousands of Verizon customers were hit with an outage early Monday. Downdetector said more than 100,000 users had reported the outage by noon, and the outage tracker's map shows hotspots around locations such as Tampa, Florida. Atlanta; and New York City.

On Monday evening, the number of reported Verizon outages increased. decreased to over 2,900.

According to multiple users on social media, some cell phones displayed an “SOS” message indicating that cell phone service had been lost.

Verizon wasn't the only provider to see a spike in Downdetector on Monday. More than 1,000 AT&T users reported the outage, which the company said was due to an issue with “another carrier.”

“Another carrier is experiencing network issues that may be preventing our customers from making calls to their own customers,” AT&T spokesman Jim Kimberly said in an earlier statement. There is,” he said.
