President Joe Biden asked Monday why he and Vice President Kamala Harris weren't physically in Washington to lead the federal government's response to Hurricane Helen, which killed at least 100 people in the Southeast over the weekend. He gave a harsh response to the reporter.
A reporter asked Biden, “Regarding the hurricane, Mr. President, why weren't you and Vice President Harris in command here in Washington this weekend?”
“I was in command. Yesterday and the day before yesterday I was on the phone for at least two hours. I give orders. That's called a phone call,” Biden told reporters.
Biden returned to Washington on Sunday afternoon after spending the weekend at a beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
Meanwhile, Vice President Kamala Harris spent the weekend on the West Coast, attending fundraisers in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
