The Pac-12 is gaining new members.
On Tuesday, the Pac-12 and Gonzaga Bulldogs announced a new partnership.
Gonzaga University is the conference's eighth team and will join the conference on July 1, 2026, with competition in all university-sponsored conference sports beginning in the 2026-27 academic year.
This is another big addition for the Pac-12, following the addition of five new teams last month. Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Utah State and San Diego State will all leave the Mountain West Conference. Like Gonzaga, they will effectively join the Pac-12 ahead of the 2026-2027 academic year.

Before all the recent additions, Oregon State and Washington State were the only two teams in the Pac-12 after a mass exodus following last season.
Gonzaga University was previously a member of the West Coast Conference for nearly 40 years.
“We are pleased to welcome Gonzaga to the Pac-12 as we continue this exciting journey together,” Pac-12 Commissioner Teresa Gould said in a statement.

“Today marks an exciting milestone for the Pac-12 as we welcome another outstanding organization with a rich history of success to our league,” Gould added.
The addition of Gonzaga prepares the Pac-12 to compete at basketball's highest level. Over the past five seasons, Gonzaga University has a combined record of 286-44 (86.7 winning percentage) in women's and men's basketball.
“This is a great day for Gonzaga University,” Gonzaga Athletics Director Chris Standiford said in a statement.

“We are excited to join a conference with a great tradition and commitment to innovation during this evolving time in collegiate athletics. These discussions progressed enthusiastically over the weekend and our collaboration continues to grow. I want to thank Commissioner Teresa Gould for her leadership as it became clearer and our vision was shared,'' Standiford continued.
The Pac-12 will continue to expand as it recovers from the impact of schools like USC and UCLA leaving the conference.
