‘Slick JD versus cornball Tim’

A panel of campaign strategists and election analysts who watched the heartwarming vice presidential debate between Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday night spoke about the following on a CBS News forum: He expressed his opinion.

Hank Sheinkoff, Democratic Party election consultant:

“These two are the most boring guys in the world. It was Slick JD vs. Cornball Tim.

“Mr. Vance did a better job because he hit directly on the areas where Democrats were weakest, including inflation, costs, and the immigration crisis.

“Waltz was a compassionate candidate; Vance was even more sophisticated.

“Waltz was quiet when it came to talking about the Middle East, but when it came to abortion, he won the exchange.

“Democrats' best moment was when they slammed Trump and Vance over the January 6th riot.”

“Vance was incapable of explaining childcare and was way off base when it came to medical care.”

“We're excited to announce that Baruch College's 2018-2018 program is a great way to support the public relations industry,” said Doug Muzio, professor emeritus of public affairs at Baruch College.

“The Vance speakers were smoother and more programmed. The Walz were more authentic speakers.

“Vance lies smoothly and clearly. He doesn't answer any questions. He diverts the conversation to his favorite metaphors.

“Waltz was awkward and uncomfortable at first. He was agitated, nervous, and unsure of himself. But when it came to substantive arguments, he was better.

“He answered questions. He was warm, human, and outspoken. He connected with the audience and gave the impression of being competent, honest, and likable.

“Mr. Vance had to defend the January 6th riot, but he refused to answer the question of whether Biden won the 2020 election. It was a cowardly side-eye.”

Republican strategist Rob Ryan said:

“Vance was cool, calm, and well-spoken; Waltz had rapid eye and head movements that distracted the viewer, reminiscent of a groundhog on meth.

“Much of Walz's responses were incoherent ramblings about blocks that never really addressed the question. One particularly disgusting question was where Walz was when the Tiananmen Square massacre occurred. I didn't respond to that.

“Vance demonstrated excellent policy knowledge and knew how to answer questions clearly and concisely. He never stumbled or made any major gaffes.

“Mr. Vance also displays a relaxed and confident demeanor without being mean or cocky, and by proving that he is actually a likeable person, he is able to increase the opinion of many voters. It will soften the situation.

“Waltz earned an 'A' for his efforts by endorsing Dick Cheney and Taylor Swift in one sentence in his closing statement.

“While Vance was the clear winner, Waltz survived and that was all he had to do. For the most part, debates are a big yawn for everyone but the candidate's most ardent supporters.” Ta.”

Chris Coffey, political consultant and former aide to Mike Bloomberg:

“Mr. Vance moved centrist all night, but he couldn't refuse to say Biden won the 2020 election.

“The January 6th Capitol riot and the debate over abortion were Walz’s crowning moments.

“Waltz's worst moment was when he began to have anxiety during the Tiananmen massacre and faced bullying about his whereabouts.

On Tuesday, Trump supporters got into an altercation with Harris supporters before the vice presidential debate between Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Aristide Economopoulos

“But at least he aligned himself with the people he gaffeped, as opposed to the revisionist Vance, who blamed Congress for failing Trump's economic policies in 2020.

“The best moment for Vance was when he seemed to find common ground with Waltz and seemed somewhat normal as a result.

“Vance's worst moment was when he clashed with the hosts over fact-checking. People under 40 shuddered to hear that.

“Overall, Vance was great tonight. I wonder if President Trump would feel overshadowed and agree to another debate.

O'Brien “OB” Murray, Campaign Strategist:

“A hillbilly with an Ivy League degree and an older white guy walk into a bar and no one notices. It's 90 uninspiring minutes of rapid-fire, flat conversation.

“Tonight's debate confirms that this presidential election, like every other presidential election, is a front-runner.

“Governor, Mr. Walz has discussed more issues than Vice President Harris since President Biden withdrew from the race.

“Throughout the debate, Sen. Vance had a more dignified presence and could have been more personal and connected better with voters. However, Vance exceeded expectations and even though he won… Even if he lost, he made himself part of the future of the Republican Party.

“Governor. Walz performed poorly. He acknowledged why he was chosen as Vice President Harris' running mate. No flash, no charisma. Just repeated what she said and attacks on Trump. .

“Interestingly, as Mr. Vance began to admit that voters did not know him, he took the time to share his background before answering the first question about Israel.

“However, Mr. Vance did a good job of not actively defending President Trump from Governor Walz's attacks and repeatedly emphasizing that.

“On the other hand, Mr. Walz should have been better prepared to answer why he lied and misspoken about being in or around China during the Tiananmen massacre.”
