Halloween mega-store rips ‘SNL’ in revenge for scathing new sketch: ‘Irrelevant 50-year-old TV show’

Halloween pop-up store chain Spirit Halloween recently slammed the iconic sketch comedy show “Saturday Night Live” on X-Post this week after the NBC show poked fun at the store in a skit last weekend.

The store's official X account trolled SNL with images of Halloween costumes, calling it an “irrelevant 50-year-old TV show” with “declining” ratings.

Spirit Halloweens released an anti-SNL statement just days after the show featured a sketch mocking holiday-themed stores.

The sketch, which aired during the premiere episode of the comedy show's 50th season, repurposes the storefronts of shuttered businesses in a trouble-hit town and pokes fun at the fake stores that sell Halloween costumes and then leave. It was a commercial. 6 weeks.

“Because of us, AutoZone went from being accused of murders to being murderous and thriving again,” said SNL castmate Michael Longfellow, a Spirit Halloween employee. He joked during the skit while playing a member.

SNL X's official account shared the sketch to the social media platform with the caption, “When others leave, the spirit Halloween appears.”

The holiday store fired back at X on Monday, offering its own parody of the long-running comedy show.

The store shared an image of an “SNL 50” costume in Spirit Halloween's signature orange packaging.

Similar to Spirit's real-life packaging, this parody included a description of the costume, in this case a negative statement about SNL's 50 seasons.

The package said, “Contents: Dated references, unknown cast members, ratings in decline.''

In the caption of the post, the store wrote, “We're good at bringing things back from the dead @nbcsnl.”

X users found the feud between the store and the show funny.

Comedian and author Lou Perez wrote, “Both the SNL skit and the Spirit Halloween reaction are hilarious. More of this please.”

Actor Nathan Brimmer mocked the store, commenting, “It's so delicious to see people pissed about being served properly on SNL.”

Comedian Luis J. Gomez praised Spirit, saying, “Killshot made Halloween fun.”

The latest episode of SNL was a hot topic this weekend for a different reason. Former NBCUniversal senior executive Mike Sinton criticized the show for running a skit that made light of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

The sketch featured Trump, played by SNL star James Austin Johnson, urging rallygoers to stay as gunshots rang out in his direction.

“Where on earth are you all going? Where are you going? It looks like you're leaving, but the door is locked. Come back – we're having fun. Someone cries, 'Bing, bong.' Other than that, we love gatherings. “Bing, bing, turn right at me,” Johnson told Trump, pointing a finger.

“I watched it live, and I actually cringed when they mocked the assassination attempt for fun, even though I'm not a fan of President Trump,” Sinton told Fox News Digital this week. “I thought it was in very bad taste.”
