JD Vance Tried to ‘Mansplain’ to Tim Walz, Moderators

According to the MSNBC personality, mansplaining has no gender boundaries and Republican presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance spoke during Tuesday's vice presidential debate between Vance and Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minnesota). (R-Ohio) had shown that proclivity. .

MSNBC hosts Rachel Maddow and Nicole Wallace, Vance spoke to Waltz and hosts Norah O'Donnell and Margaret Brennan about “mansplaining,” an aspect of illegal immigration (usually men who are condescending towards women). (a word used to describe a person speaking in a similar manner). .

A partial transcription follows:

MC: Can I say something about the MCs? They did a great job and also used the mic mute feature. We spent a lot of time on this before the debate. In fact, if you're a woman, I think that might be the worst moment since JD Vance was going to mansplain over the mute button. He was, and again, I don't pretend to know how everyone is going to react to this, but a lot of women in positions of authority who should command respect because of that dynamic are Do you think you or some men feel disrespected? Discuss those.

There was a similar moment during the vice presidential debate between Harris and Pence, when she said, “I'm talking.” There is a real belief that what he says is more important than the rules of the debate or the moderator.

MADDOW: So to Joy's point – the essence of that moment was that he was also lying about immigration in Springfield, Ohio, and Tim Walz called him out on it and said, “Oh, no, no, no. That's when I said “I am.” “I'm not lying, tell me why I call them illegal immigrants.” They're not illegal immigrants, but let me mansplain the law. At that point, the host muted his microphone and said: “Thank you for explaining the law. That's not what we're asking.”
