Undefeated Missouri State is expected to have a tough road test this weekend when it heads to Kyle Field to take on No. 25 Texas A&M.
As the University of Missouri continues to prepare for its Southeastern Conference tilt, coach Eli Drinkwitz took the somewhat unexpected action this week by informing a member of his staff that he would not be allowed to participate in practice. Ta.
Drinkwitz said Briar Reed, Missouri's assistant director of intramural recruiting, “will be unavailable for practice this week.” The coach cited Brier's younger brother, Marcel Reed, on the Aggies' roster.

Freshman quarterback Reed could start Oct. 6 at Texas A&M.
Aggies coach Mike Elko said Connor Weigman was considered a “game-time decision.” Weigman was the starting quarterback in the Aggies' season-opening loss to Notre Dame, but left the Week 2 game with a shoulder injury.

Reed has thrown passes in four of the Aggies' five games this season and has started each of the past three games. Drinkwitz said the coaching staff is adjusting its game plan around Reed this week, regardless of Weigman's status.

“Right now, when you look at their depth chart, you see another guy who is the starting quarterback,” Drinkwitz said.
“But that's just semantics in my opinion. [Reed] 3-0 as a starter. Whether he's listed as questionable or not, I doubt they'll return. They are 3-0 and have a distinctly different offensive identity. [Reed] As a quarterback, they developed an offense tailored to his system. Much different than the first game of the year. If they go with other things, they go with other things. However, it looks like they are already building an attack against Marcel. ”

Drinkwitz on Wednesday emphasized his position on Breyer's one-week ban from practice, saying, “It's not a joke.” Drinkwitz made the comments on the SEC coaches conference call.
Drinkwitz also acknowledged that the brother-sister relationship created an “interesting dynamic.”

“It created an interesting dynamic,” Drinkwitz said. “At the end of the day, it's her brother, it's her blood, and we know she's here at work. But family is always very important, so we… I don't want her to be involved in any kind of conflict of interest.''In fact, I saw her in the hallway just a moment ago, but I won't let her into the copy room, and she I'm sure you're not going to pay attention to the scouting report. ”
Drinkwitz also said he didn't know until Week 3 that any players in Breyer's family played at Texas A&M. Marcel threw two touchdowns in the Aggies' 33-20 win over the Florida Gators that week.
Drinkwitz is in the midst of his fifth season as the head coach at the University of Missouri. The Tigers were ranked No. 9 in the latest AP Top 25 rankings.
