When the Mets take on the Brewers in Game 3 on Thursday, Jose Quintana will be on the mound at American Family Field trying to lift the Metropolitans to a National LDS appearance.
It was his fifth career postseason start and sixth overall playoff appearance, and he is 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 18/3 innings pitched.
“I'm really excited. I think it's an honor to have this opportunity,” Quintana said of starting Game 3 after the Mets' 5-3 loss on Wednesday. “I'll pitch again in the postseason. This loss… [a] really tough [loss] But we will keep our heads up and come back stronger tomorrow. ”
Quintana last pitched in a postseason game with the Cardinals in the 2022 National League Wild Card Series.
He pitched 5 1/3 innings in Game 1 of the series against the Phillies, striking out three batters while giving up two hits and no runs.
Prior to that, his last playoff appearance was in 2017 with the Cubs.
He started Game 3 of the NLDS, pitching five innings in Chicago's victory over the Nationals. He pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief in Game 5 of the series.

Quintana then made two more starts in that year's playoffs, starting Game 1 and Game 5 against the Dodgers, scoring six runs in two innings in the latter.
