1. New 'Mean Girls' movie released 20 years after the original
Twenty years after the original film, the second version of “Mean Girls” is now released in theaters.
The 2024 version of “Mean Girls” is based on the Broadway musical. Although the characters and plot are similar to the original film, the film's music differs significantly from the original version.

The 2024 film will feature an almost entirely different cast, including Renee Rapp as George and Angourie Rice as Heron.
Some actors, including Tina Fey and Tim Meadows, returned to the role for the 2024 film.
2. This movie was written by Tina Fey, who also stars in the movie
“Mean Girls” was written by Fey, who plays teacher Ms. Norbury in the film.
The comedian was primarily known for his work on “Saturday Night Live” at the time. She collaborated with “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels on “Mean Girls.”

The book that inspired “Mean Girls” was “Queen Bees and Wannabes: Helping Your Daughter Survival Cliques, Gossip, Boyfriends & Other Realities of Adolescent.”
This book was written in 2002 by Rosalind Wiseman.

October 3rd has become a day to celebrate movies due to classic lines from movies.
When Herron talks to George's crush and ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels in the film, he asks her what day it is and she replies, “October 3rd.”
This scene is short but memorable.

5. Amy Poehler was a “cool mom” and young

In fact, there is only a seven-year age difference between Poehler and McAdams.

6. Rajiv Surendra was able to make his rap a success with the help of Fey and Poehler.
It wasn't just the performance of “Jingle Bell Rock” that captivated the show.
The rapping of Rajiv Surendra's character Kevin Gunapour (Kevin G) also gained attention thanks to Fey and Poehler. Helped knock him out of the park.
For Fey and Poehler, this wrap was important to the film, and they played a big role in making sure Surendra got it right. A video of Poehler attempting to rap himself with Faye and Lohan in the background also surfaced online.

It's hard to imagine anyone else playing the main characters in Mean Girls, but the cast could have been very different.
The role of George was a hot commodity, with Amanda Seyfried and Lohan coveting the role before taking on the roles of Karen Smith and Heron, respectively.
Blake Lively was pretty much the mean girl on Gossip Girl. During the casting process, she was the top choice for the role of Smith.

“My mom and I flew to Los Angeles for the first time and we were so excited,” Seyfried said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “When I first met Lacey Chabert, Lindsay Lohan was in the room, and Blake Lively played Karen, and I was Regina.”
In the end, Lively didn't get the role, and Seyfried ended up playing Smith. Ashley Tisdale was also one of the people who auditioned for the film.
8. The original cut of the movie was much worse than the final cut.
“Mean Girls” is a movie that preteens will enjoy, but it wasn't originally created for younger audiences.
It was originally given an R rating by the Motion Picture Association of America, although there are elements that still give it a PG-13 rating.
