Former President Trump said he will visit North Carolina next week, a battleground state working on relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Helen.
“No date has been set because we don't want to do anything that will interfere with their rescue efforts,” Trump wrote. Post to Truth Social.
The Republican presidential candidate traveled to Georgia to meet with local officials and distribute relief supplies in the wake of the Category 4 storm.
The former president also launched a GoFundMe page that had raised more than $4.5 million for hurricane victims in multiple states as of Thursday afternoon.
Vice President Harris is scheduled to visit Georgia on Wednesday and visit North Carolina to meet with local officials following President Biden's visit to the Tar Heel state this week.
Georgia and North Carolina are two states in the Southeast that will be affected by Helen, and are also important states that will determine the outcome of November's presidential election.
Trump won North Carolina in 2016 and 2020, but polls show his race with Harris is nearly even in the state, with The Hill/Decision Desk's polling index showing the former president led the Democratic candidate by less than 1 percentage point.
