A Florida restaurant owner who has struggled to stay open for years since the coronavirus pandemic received a surprise message of support from former President Donald Trump.

“We're asking everyone to come together and help save Harry and the Aboriginal people. This is a special restaurant, a very special place. People love it. It's been around for a long time. Like for a really long time. But I fell prey to Kamala Harris and Joe Biden's economy,” President Trump told owner Harry MacArthur in a prerecorded message on “Fox & Friends” Friday.

“Especially when it comes to Florida, we've got to keep the good stores open. Florida is a very, very special place and it's a very, very good restaurant. So Harry and the First Nations, please keep it going. We've got to keep it open. I love you and you will be around for a long time.”

Co-host Steve Doocy hosted Friday's show from a packed restaurant in Hobe Sound after MacArthur wrote on Facebook that unless something changed by October 12, he would have to close.

However, the community supported MacArthur by supporting a GoFundMe set up by MacArthur's son, Wyatt.

MacArthur called the response from Trump and the community “overwhelming.”

“At the end of the day, everyone seems to care,” he said.

The restaurant has been in the MacArthur family for 72 years. The business was originally run by his parents, but after his father passed away in the 1980s, MacArthur restarted the business as Harry and the Natives.

MacArthur's business was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2021, but the “Breakfast with Friends” corner helped keep it afloat. But the financial struggle was not over.

“At that time, Fox saved us. Fox and Steve Doocy saved us. And we continued to do that and everything else for the next six months. Then the economy continued to go down and everything else,” MacArthur told co-host Steve Doocy.

“It's a national thing. Family restaurants are going to disappear.”

The latest 7News/Suffolk University/USA Today poll shows the economy and inflation remain the top issues for voters, at 34%. Since the Biden-Harris administration took office in 2021, prices in the Sunshine State have increased by 21.7%.
