A Rasmussen Report survey found that a majority of prospective voters nationwide are very or somewhat concerned that fraud will affect the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
investigation asked Respondents were asked, “How concerned are you that the outcome of the 2024 presidential election will be affected by fraud?”
Overall, a majority (62%) said they were very or somewhat concerned that fraud would affect the 2024 presidential election. Of those, 40% were “very” concerned. A further 16% said they were not too worried, and 18% said they were not worried at all.
Overall, Republicans are most concerned that fraud could affect the outcome of this election cycle, with more than three-quarters, 77%, saying they are very or somewhat concerned. By contrast, 62% of independents are very or somewhat concerned, and 50% of Democrats are very or somewhat concerned.
Overall, 47% of Democrats say they are not very concerned or not at all concerned, compared to 35% of independents and 19% of Republicans who feel the same way.
To put things into perspective, the survey also asked respondents how likely it was that fraud influenced the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The majority (53%) said it was either very likely or somewhat likely. Forty-two percent of Democrats think so, as do 71% of Republicans and 46% of independents.
The survey was conducted on September 18-19 and 22, 2024 among 1,114 likely voters. There is a margin of error of +/- 3%.
The results came as the revamped Republican National Committee (RNC) and Trump campaign sought to allay voter concerns this election cycle, debuting a wide-ranging election integrity program in April. At the time, the RNC deemed it “the most extensive and monumental election integrity program in the nation's history,” featuring many facets ranging from aggressive legal challenges to a massive poll monitoring program.
A press release at the time detailed the following:
The State Republican War Room is a command center where attorneys address all questions and issues reported by pollsters and voters across the state. Lawyers guide poll watchers in accordance with proper election law and provide clarity on how various questions should be answered, resolved, and escalated. The system will operate from the first day of early voting through Election Day and, if necessary, thereafter.
Under the leadership of Chairman Whatley and Co-Chairman Trump, the RNC is implementing an unprecedented legal strategy and fighting in courtrooms across the country. We engage in aggressive litigation every time election officials break the law, and we intervene to protect common-sense election law safeguards under attack from Democrats.
The RNC's legal team is already actively fighting legal battles across the country. So far this term, the RNC has filed 82 election fraud lawsuits in 25 states.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley and Co-Chairman Lara Trump announced this week that they had exceeded their goal by attracting 200,000 poll workers so far this term.
“We also send a loud and clear message to anyone considering fraud in an election: If you commit fraud in an election, we will find you, we will pursue you, and we will do so to the fullest extent of the law.” We will prosecute you to the fullest extent possible,” Lara Trump warned.
