Two teens have been arrested in connection with an attack on former New York Gov. David Paterson and his 20-year-old son-in-law as they walked their dog in Manhattan on Friday night, authorities said. This was confirmed to Fox News Digital on Sunday morning.
Police identified the two teens as a 12-year-old male who was charged with second-degree gang assault and a 13-year-old male who was charged with third-degree gang assault. Their names were withheld because they are minors.
Detectives continue to search for five suspects allegedly involved in the attack on Patterson and his son-in-law, Anthony Chester Sliwa, on the Upper East Side Friday after 8:30 p.m. There is.
Five unidentified people confronted Mr. Patterson and Mr. Sliwa and began an altercation that police said escalated into a physical assault that left the former governor with head injuries and his son-in-law with more serious facial injuries. Patterson is 70 years old and legally blind, but told FreedomNews.TV His son-in-law first encountered the three teens on Saturday when he noticed them climbing a fire escape into a nearby building and yelled that he would call the police if they didn't get back on the street. is.
“They came down, he collided with one of them and that was kind of the end of it,” Patterson said.

The former governor said he and his son-in-law then encountered the teens and their friends on Second Avenue and got into an argument.
Patterson said the teens were arguing with his stepson when two other adults intervened, sparking the ensuing fight.

“The kids didn't start the fight,” Patterson said. “They were arguing, and when the fight started, everyone joined in.”
Patterson told reporters he was “punched in the face several times” and punched in the shoulder.

“The person who hit me in the shoulder threw me at the McDonald's window,” Patterson said.
Police released a description of the five suspects and asked the public for help in identifying them.

The former Democratic governor's press secretary, Sean Darcy, previously told Fox News Digital that Patterson and his son-in-law were released from the hospital early Saturday morning.
“The governor's only request is to make sure people don't attempt any unfortunate act of violence for personal or political gain,” Darcy said. “He and his wife Mary are grateful to the police for their quick response and for the tremendous support they have received from people from all walks of life.”

Patterson served as governor of New York from 2008 to 2010. His wife is Mary Sliwa, the ex-wife of Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa.
