A woman listed in the incident report as Young's ex-girlfriend alerted authorities that she arrived at the football player's apartment around midnight on Oct. 8 to discuss the status of their relationship.
According to the complaint, the 20-year-old woman said Young “grabbed her by the left arm near her biceps and triceps and physically pulled her from the room.” She claimed the wide receiver was “using derogatory language and humiliating her,” and that he then closed and locked her bedroom door.

The woman said she was collecting her belongings when she received a call on her cell phone from a friend. After answering the call, the woman told investigators that “Mr. Young came out and grabbed her from behind. She said he picked her up and began squeezing her torso and abdomen very hard.” She said she felt like this: [Young] He was trying to harm her. ”
The woman was taken to a local hospital after officers noticed bruises and redness. She had “bruising and discoloration on the lower right side of her chest, where it meets her abdomen. She also had redness on her right side. There were no injuries to her arm where Mr. Young allegedly grabbed her,” the officer reported. did. .

Young disputed accusations that he grabbed the woman, claiming he only walked her to the door after realizing there was a heated argument. The suspect also told police that the woman's injuries were not “from him.”
“Colby Young was arrested last night after asking his ex-girlfriend to leave his apartment,” Kim Stevens, an attorney representing Young, told ESPN. “He never had any physical contact with her in a way that could be considered a crime. Once our investigation is complete and the truth comes out, we expect Mr. Young to be fully exonerated.” ”
Young has 149 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns so far this season.

Wide receiver Rodarius “Lara” Thomas, whose transfer to Georgia was announced a year before Young, was arrested on misdemeanor charges in January 2023. Thomas had transferred from Mississippi State just a month before he was taken into police custody.
Thomas took a plea deal, but was dismissed from the football program this offseason after being arrested on multiple domestic violence charges in a separate incident. Per school policy, he was initially suspended indefinitely from the football team after a felony was charged against the individual.
“He's not a part of the football team anymore,” Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart said in August after speaking with Thomas, who was released from jail on bond. “He understands that. We wish him the best.”
