Drake May's time has come.
According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Patriots will start their rookie quarterback this Sunday against the Texans.
Jacoby Brissett was the starter for the Patriots in their first five games, going 1-4.
There were rumors that Mayo would beat Brissett to be the starting choice to start the season, but head coach Jerod Mayo has held off on it until now, possibly because the Patriots offense is under pressure at quarterback. The main reason is probably that it's easy.
Brissett's recent outing, in which he completed 18 of 34 pass attempts and completed 160 without a touchdown, appears to have been a breaking point.
“That just wasn't enough,” Mayo told reporters Monday. “I thought we played well enough defensively and on special teams to win the football game. As a quarterback, and he understands that, he's a big player with the ball on every play.” I mentioned that we didn't win the game or score enough points to win the game, and I think he would echo the same sentiment that it wasn't good enough. ”

Brissett's performance this season, coupled with Maye's preseason and practice reports, led a reporter from the Patriots' digital group to say the team is on the verge of a “rebellion.”
“Right now they have a rebellion in that locker room,” Evan Lazar said on the “Catch-22” podcast he co-hosts on Patriots.com.
“Besides, I don't want to be an alarmist. [be hyperbolic]…I don't. But after the game on Sunday, I was in the locker room. ”
Asked about those comments on WEEI on Monday, Brissett said:[That is] terrible reporting about [from] People who don't know what they're talking about. ”
Brissett is averaging less than 140 passing yards per game this season.
Maye appeared on mop-up duty in the Patriots' loss to the Jets on September 19, completing four of eight pass attempts for 22 yards.
