On CNN on Wednesday, network contributor Scott Jennings mocked Vice President Kamala Harris for comments critical of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) as Hurricane Milton battered the state's west coast. .
Jenning called Harris' move a “big campaign mistake,” noting that Harris' comments contradict President Joe Biden's statements about the Florida governor.
“No matter what we do in our public communications, we must always show the American people that we have our fellow Americans in our hearts,” Jennings said. “So this is a historic storm, so some people won't survive. There will be widespread destruction of property. We have to show the empathy that people would expect from the president of the United States. I think this is the first step in campaign communication.”
“Secondly, what she can't do is try to bring politics into this issue. And honestly, when Kamala Harris attacked Ron DeSantis, who was preparing for this hurricane, it was “I think that was a big mistake on her part in the campaign,” he continued. . “She shouldn't have done that, but Biden came out and corrected the record and said he and DeSantis worked well together. That was the appropriate response.”
