Rafael Nadal to retire from professional tennis at end of season

Spain's Rafa Nadal, a 22-time Grand Slam singles champion, announced Thursday that he is ending his career as a professional tennis player, a decision that took effect after the Davis Cup final.

“It's been a difficult year, especially the last two years,” the 38-year-old, who has won a record 14 times at Roland Garros, said in a video.

“I'm very excited that my last tournament will be a Davis Cup representing my country. One of my first joys was the final in Sevilla in 2004, so I'm excited to see it come to an end. There is.”

The Davis Cup final tournament will be held from November 19th to 24th.

Nadal's career has been hampered by injuries, causing him to miss the 2023 French Open and losing in the first round this year to Germany's Alexander Zverev.

He won his last title at Roland Garros in 2022, leaving the clay courts of Paris with an astonishing record of 112 wins and 4 losses.
